Ancho is one of the three basic chiles in Mexican gastronomy along with Gaujilo and Arbol. A dried chile Ancho is a dried and ripe version of a Poblano pepper with a dark black/brown color, mild heat, and a smoky flavor. This chile is a common ingredient in marinades and salsa, and also is an essential ingredient in many Mexican moles and Mexican dishes.
Note:
Rehydrate the peppers with boiled water (enough to cover the peppers) off the heat for 15-20 min until they are soft and pliable. Manufactured in Mexico.
