Pork Tamale

The Peruvian tamale is a corn-based dish known since its pre-Columbian existence.

It is a filling made of a mixture of white corn, pork, eggs, olives, peanuts, Peruvian chilies, and spices wrapped in banana leaves. Then slow cook for hours until the filling is done and the flavor of the leaves is incorporated.

How to heat
Add the tamale as it is (frozen) in boiling water for 10 minutes (do not open the sealed pack).

The food was sooooo good 😊. My husband and I were equally impressed. I had never had ethnic food like this but was blown away by the taste, texture, and flavor. I’m glad I gave it a try and wonder if my Uber ordering nights will be shifting to food frozen shipments from here. 10/10, really!

Ordered the Pork Tamales. 10 out of 10. Salsa Verde was $. Honestly, great experience. Came straight away, super easy to prepare and was delicious. 5 stars.

I prefer the Mexican style. This were dryer. Maybe Peruvian style?

Very tasty, I am looking forward to trying the Mexican type. I like that they properly wrapped these in banana leaves, but I do miss the plantain leaf wrapped tamales in Latin America. A good amount of meat!

It was delicious, but I ordered pork tamales and they were chicken, even though the label said pork. I only ate one and am hesitant that the second will also be chicken. I was really looking forward to eating pork tamales again, so it was disappointing.

We haven’t eaten the two in this order yet, but this is a repeat order and we enjoyed them immensely the last time.

Delicious! Only downside is the price, but tamales are hard to find so the price is expected.

Low on meat and mostly cornmeal breading, but such is typical of tamales, unfortunately. Tasted quite good, but there was something that resembled a chicken egg inside that tasted a bit like sea food, so I guess it must have been a fish egg sag of some sort. I didn’t care for that at all, but the rest of the tamale (with meat in it) was very good. More meat (and no eggs of any kind) would make it the perfect tamale!

I love Mexican tamales, so I ordered these to try. These are Peruvian tamales, and they are quite different. The pork inside is a bit too fatty for my liking, and the whole tamale doesn’t seem to have as much flavor as a Mexican tamale. Maybe it’s just the way the Peruvians make tamales or maybe it’s not that great, but, either way, they are not for me.

Still, they were easy to heat up and weren’t terrible, so adding salsa might give it enough flavor for you to enjoy.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a tamale. It’s a bit different from the northern Mexican variety we find in places like California, but it hits the spot.

Very good, but a bit on the dry side. I’ve only had Mexican style tamales, so I’m not sure if this was normal. It was definitely nice to try a tamale from another region.

The products are as promised. Easy to warm up. Just follow the instructions on the website. I can’t wait for the chorizo to be available again.

The taste was ok, but unfortunately there was beer little meat in the tamale. I thought I had ordered the wrong one because I ate half of it before finding the first piece of pork. Besides that, the flavor was fine.
